Church History

Cornerstone Christian Church was chartered and recognized by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a non-denominational, independent congregation of Christian believers in November of 1999. The church was formed by a number of people responding to the call of God to form a church which sought to worship God in a contemporary setting, while drawing on basic Biblical principles set forth in the word of God.

The charter members began meeting in a private home. As the body grew, God provided a meeting place at Short Pump Middle School. As the body continued to grow, so did the desire to have a sanctuary of our own. Again God answered prayers and provided property and an existing sanctuary and in 2005, Cornerstone Christian Church and Tuckahoe Baptist Church merged under the name Cornerstone Christian Church. At that time, Cornerstone Christian Church joined the Dover Baptist Association and formed an affiliation with the Baptist General Association of Virginia. The church now holds a traditional service at the Tuckahoe Chapel and a contemporary service at Short Pump Middle School. A five year plan includes a building project on the property at 9400 Gayton Rd.
